Summary of Position:

Assist mill shift supervisor, and maintenance department. The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

Principal duties and functions:
  • Wearing assigned PPE.
  • Understand and use LO/TO and Confined Space procedures.
  • Be able to operate a Forklift.
  • Be able to operate a Payloader.
  • Be able to operate the Lot Truck.
  • Learn all the mill controls and mill operations.
  • Observe mill process machinery for any unexpected problems.
  • Learn and understand operations of the Baghouse and controls.
  • Switch out and weigh up material boxes.
  • Switch out and weigh up roll-off boxes.
  • Inspect and clean out the grizzlies.
  • Inspect and maintain operational readiness of the tumbler.
  • Inspect and clean Baghouse ducts and hoppers.
  • Clean your work area (material spills and dust spills).
  • Change out screens on the 5 deck screen systems as required.
  • Assist maintenance when needed.
  • Follow all your supervisor’s directions.
  • Follow all Real Alloy safety rules, regulations and policies.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is required to stand on concrete for long periods of time. The employee is also required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls, reach above the head and arms, and will climb required some balanced. The employee must lift and move varying weights. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to tolerate extreme atmospheric temperatures, both hot and cold.

Work environment:

The work environments here in are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the principle functions and duties of his/her job; (1) While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near open flame, moving machinery and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and work in outside weather conditions. (2) Employee is occasionally exposed to extreme hot and cold atmospheric conditions. (3) The noise level in the work environment is usually load and will require hearing protection. (4) Very dusty and dirty work areas at times.

Position Requirements:
  • Ability to work well with other employees and customers.
  • Some administration skills are helpful.
  • Some mechanical aptitude, equipment familiarization and general math is helpful.
  • (OT) Overtime as required. Flexible to work different jobs and shifts as needed.
  • Occasional moderate heavy lifting is required.

Minimum Education or Experience:
  • High school or G.E.D. preferred, not required.
  • Good work record.
