Public Transit Dispatcher:

  • Position Title: Public Transit Dispatcher
  • Employment Type Hourly, Part-Time (20–35 hours per week)
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday; Dispatch Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Attire: Business Casual

Position Summary

The Public Transit Dispatcher serves as a critical link between passengers, drivers, and the transit system. This 
position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, answering phone inquiries, scheduling 
transportation trips, handling fare revenue, and ensuring daily dispatch operations run smoothly and efficiently. 
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, patient, and committed to serving the public with 
professionalism and compassion.

• Ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and remain focused despite frequent interruptions.
• Strong commitment to customer service and a genuine desire to help others.
• Patience, professionalism, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently and accurately.
• Strong computer skills, including data entry and use of scheduling software.
• Excellent telephone communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Understanding of confidentiality requirements, professional office etiquette, and workplace boundaries.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Wabash County and surrounding areas is preferred.
• Ability to handle cash and perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.

Compensation
• Hourly pay rate (based on qualifications and experience).
• Part-time position averaging 20–35 hours per week.
