Name: Jennie DeVoe and BMW Art Car Support Pathfinder Services’ Artists
Date: August 29, 2019
Time: 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
Pathfinder Services is pleased and proud to host a concert and wine event on August 29, 2019, at the modern, yet sophisticated, Two EE’s Winery in Roanoke, IN. All proceeds from the event will support Pathfinder Services Creative Abilities Art Studios. The name of the event, Meraki (may-rah-kee), “when you do something with creativity or love; putting a piece of yourself into what you do. “ is a true description of what this event is all about. Pathfinder Creative Abilities Art Studios provide creative opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities who are served by Pathfinder Community Supports Day Services program. This program offers adults person-centered activities to facilitate life skills through community and center-based activities. The art studios provide a space within the community where artists can paint, sculpt, sew, draw and craft jewelry. The works of art are sold at community events and the studio location. The proceeds from the sale of the art go back to the artists and the Pathfinder Services Community Supports to sustain the program. In 1975, Alexander Calder was commissioned to paint the 3.0CSL driven by Hervé Poulain at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which became the first in the series of BMW Art Cars. This led to more BMW Art Cars painted by artists including Andy Warhol, Jenny Holzer, Roy Lichtenstein and others. The cars have been shown at the Louvre, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and New York's Grand Central Terminal. The Pathfinder Creative Ability Art Studios artists will unveil their BMW Art Car at the 2019 Meraki event. Many thanks go out Tom Kelley, President, of Kelley Automotive of Fort Wayne for supplying the exciting and luxurious BMW i3s. Their generosity is beyond measure. Our goal is to touch people with the Pathfinder Services Mission. “How?”, you ask? Meraki is a showcase event, not only highlighting breathtaking art and an exciting car experience, but brings the soulful sound of Jennie Devoe to the stage. Jennie DeVoe is a fiercely independent singer/songwriter with a unique personal style of Americana-Soul-Roots and Blues music that has earned her loyal fans of all ages and from all musical genres. Purist fans loyal to folk, blues, jazz and soul music all find something to love in Jennie's music which is not an easy feat. She's shared stages with John Hiatt, Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, Joe Cocker, Edwin McCain, Gregg Allman, and played mega-side stages for the biggest stars including Sting, Lyle Lovett, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Fiona Apple, and more. Whether you are a fan of Dylan or Prine, Aretha or Macy, Sting, Allison Krauss, Zeppelin, Mumford & Sons, Jack Johnson, Nina Simone, Etta James, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, The Rolling Stones or Katy Perry - Jennie can cast a spell strong enough to win you over. Jennie has something special that people gravitate towards. The thrill for her always comes from reaching an audience and feeling that symbiotic energy that only happens when both the artist and audience connect. On stage, Jennie has the unique ability to make you laugh and cry. She lets her guard down and engages her audience with one of the best senses of humor and storytelling that you could find in any artist around today.
