Position: Wabash Plant Manager

Reports to: VP of Operations

Department: Non-ferrous

Position Overview

The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Site Operations which includes but are not limited to Safety, Security, Quality, Property Management, Production Departments, Service Departments (Maintenance, Shipping and Receiving, Human Resources), and the Plant Financial Plan Targets.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep VP of Operations informed of Critical information
  • Control, Coordinate, Manage and oversee all aspects of the facility as defined in the Position Overview
  • Direct and Manage site Managers and Supervisors along with making sure they have proper training for their roles in the company
  • Develops and Manages to Productions Schedules
  • Support and Address Customer issues along with communication, analysis, retraining, and or other requirements.
  • Direct and Support Maintenance Manager as well as Preventative Maintenance Programs.
  • Direct and Support Shipping and Receiving Manager
  • Direct and Supervise Office Administration
  • Direct, Support, and oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements. Makes sure all Employees are trained too and follow HSE Standards.
  • Direct, Support, and Monitor the hiring and training of facility personnel.
  • Oversee and participate in the continuous updating and modification of plant procedures, standards (i.e. Industrial Standards, Environmental Standards, OSHA Standards, D.O.T. Standards, ISO Standards, etc.), processes, and policies.
  • Maintain Daily Plant Housekeeping to Audited Standard
  • Lead Plant Meetings for proper communication to all plant personnel along with documentation of attendance.
  • Manage Plant labor and Expenses to align to Financial Plans
  • Continually review, document, and manage Continuous Improvement to drive cost out of the operation.
  • Keep Human Resources informed of all Schedules, Labor Changes, Disciplinary Actions, & Status Notice Changes
  • Work with and Support External Teams at Corporate including Transport
  • Sets Example and Follows all company policies along with implementing and managing plant to standards
  • Performs Special Assignments as delegated along with Strategic Planning
  • Manage Plant with defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and drive actions to meet Goals and Targets
 

Requirements:

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Knowledge of the business and management principles
  • Familiar with Industry Standards, Equipment, and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Inventory processes
  • Computer Literacy
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong Team Builder, Decision Maker, and People Management Skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, Equipment Familiarization, and General Math is helpful.

Education/Experience

  • College Degree Preferred but prior Plant Manager experience acceptable with High School Diploma
  • Communication, Administration, and Management skills a must.
  • Knowledgeable in Non-Ferrous Materials Required
  • Experienced in materials processing, handling, and storage.
  • Solid Work Record and Practices Required.

Physical Requirements

  • Office Environment. Utilizing an office desk, sitting, reading, listening, or speaking with the ability to move
  • Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight and good hearing.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones.
  • Tolerate a dusty environment
  • Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
