Position Summary

Babe of Wabash County is seeking a relational, organized, and collaborative professional to help support and grow the Family Learning and Development Program while maintaining meaningful connections with families, vendors, volunteers, and community partners.

This role combines family engagement, program coordination, community relationship support, and day-to-day operational organization. The Family Engagement & Program Coordinator will help create intentional programming that strengthens families, supports parent-child relationships, and fosters a welcoming and connected environment throughout Babe.

This position is highly collaborative in nature. The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to help identify family needs, develop programming ideas, strengthen existing programming, and maintain organizational systems that support Babe’s mission and growth.

The ideal candidate is relational, observant, adaptable, organized, and able to thoughtfully collaborate within an evolving, mission-driven environment. This role requires both creativity and humility — someone who can bring ideas, notice needs, and take initiative while also working collaboratively within Babe’s established mission, philosophy, and approach to supporting families.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

Family Learning & Program Development

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to help develop, strengthen, and evolve the Family Learning and Development Program

  • Help identify family needs, developmental gaps, and opportunities for new programming through direct interaction and observation

  • Assist in planning and coordinating programming and additional educational opportunities

  • Develop activities, lessons, and parent engagement opportunities that support kindergarten readiness, healthy family culture, and positive parent-child interaction

  • Coordinate guest presenters, educational opportunities, and community-based learning experiences

  • Assist in maintaining and developing educational spaces, parent support groups, educational groups, and family enrichment opportunities

  • Help maintain intentional, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate programming environments

Classroom & Programming Environment Oversight

  • Help maintain and refresh educational activities, learning stations, toys, sensory materials, books, and playroom spaces

  • Ensure programming spaces remain organized, current, welcoming, and aligned with Family Learning and Development objectives

  • Prepare materials and supplies for classes, activities, and events

Family Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build meaningful relationships with families

  • Encourage positive parent-child interaction during programming

  • Help model engagement techniques and healthy interaction strategies for parents during programming

  • Provide support, encouragement, and guidance to families in alignment with Babe’s mission and approach

  • Help identify areas where families may benefit from additional support, education, or resources and communicate those observations to leadership

Vendor & Community Relationship Support

  • Maintain relationships, communication, and follow-through with Babe’s vendors and resource partners

  • Support vendor onboarding, paperwork, communication, and organizational follow-through

  • Help ensure vendor information, records, and systems remain organized and current

  • Assist with communication regarding program expectations and coupon system consistency when needed

  • Coordinate vendor information and communication with Babe staff and marketing systems

Administrative & Organizational Support

  • Maintain organized and accurate records, data tracking systems, documentation, and program information

  • Support organization and maintenance of internal systems, forms, and operational processes

  • Assist with scheduling, communication, and program preparation

  • Help maintain awareness of day-to-day operations to support a smooth and cohesive environment

Events & Collaboration

  • Assist with coordination and implementation of events, including the Independence Day Children’s Parade and additional family or community events

  • Collaborate across all areas of Babe, including programming, facilities, marketing, volunteers, boutique operations, and family engagement

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven culture

  • Support additional organizational needs as assigned by the Executive Director

 


 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, child development, family studies, nonprofit leadership, ministry, social services, or related field preferred

  • Experience working with families and/or children strongly preferred

  • Strong relational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to observe family dynamics and identify opportunities for supportive programming and growth

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining flexibility and professionalism

  • Ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative appropriately

  • Comfortable receiving feedback, direction, and ongoing collaboration from leadership

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with families, volunteers, vendors, and community partners

  • Growth mindset with adaptability and willingness to learn

  • Passion for strengthening families and building healthy community culture

  • Proficiency with basic technology systems including email, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and data systems preferred

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and emotional maturity

  • Strong alignment with Babe of Wabash County’s mission, vision, values, and approach to supporting families

 


 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during programming and events

  • Ability to set up and tear down programming spaces

  • Ability to use stairs

  • Ability to work in environments ranging from quiet to active and occasionally noisy

 


 

Schedule

  • Full-time position

  • Primarily Monday–Friday daytime hours

  • Includes one consistent evening each week for programming

  • Occasional additional evening and weekend hours may be needed for events or special programming
