President and CEO, Community Foundation of Wabash County (North Manchester, IN) – Are you an experienced leader who is passionate about small communities and quality of life? Would you thrive in an organization that has placed itself at the center of making Wabash County a great place to live, work, and play? Since 1954, the Community Foundation of Wabash County has been a faithful steward and effective conduit for charitable giving in Wabash County, Indiana. Over the past few years the foundation has partnered with Grow Wabash County, other institutions, and the communities of Wabash County on the Imagine One 85 Initiative (Imagine One Wabash County).
The next President & CEO will take the reins from a successful 12-year leader who is retiring and leaving the foundation on a great path of asset growth and community leadership. The Foundation is seeking a community- and people-oriented leader who is familiar with charitable giving and nonprofit organizations and able to quickly establish themselves in the communities across Wabash County. This leader will bring passion for our community and the value of education in building up our community. This is a heavy relationship-building and connecting role with half of the leader’s time devoted to building relationships with community leaders. In addition, the President & CEO should be able to lead, develop, and supervise a seven member staff team.
The foundation has a long-term commitment to education while working with donors to create funds that provide financial support across all sectors of our communities, including social services, youth, senior citizens, education, recreation, arts, culture, animal welfare, and community development. Current assets now exceed $90 million, far above most counties our size.
Innovative Initiatives include:
Early Award Scholarship Program (EASP) - leading the field in innovating post-secondary financial aid through child savings accounts (CSAs).
Early childhood collaboration and funding - seeking ways to share resources, pay teachers higher wages, and make family fees more affordable.
Impact Investing – the foundation has provided construction funding to start a new residential subdivision in Wabash and a revolving fund for home rehabilitation in North Manchester.
Imagine One 85 (Imagine One Wabash County) - The Community Foundation and Grow Wabash County have deemed population decline as Wabash County’s greatest threat and have brought the community together in a coordinated response. More at: https://imagineone85.org/
Adult Education - The Community Foundation supports the Learn More Centers in North Manchester and Wabash, an adult basic education program that helps adult learners pass the high school equivalency test or prepare for college-level studies. The foundation also provides scholarship support for adult learners to pursue post-secondary education.
Why Join Us?
At CFWC, you will have the opportunity to lead a respected organization with a long-standing legacy of impact. You’ll work alongside a dedicated board and staff team, passionate donors, and a vibrant community, all committed to building a stronger, more resilient Wabash County.
These are exciting times for Indiana community foundations, who are taking more visible and active community leadership roles. Key Responsibilities of the President & CEO include:
Organizational Leadership and Administration - Partner with the board and provide leadership to the community in defining and pursuing a vision for the future. The CEO is responsible for effective stewardship of the Foundation’s finances and investments.
Public Relations/Partnerships: Serve as the Foundation’s chief spokesperson, assuming a leadership role in the community, ensuring constituent confidence while advocating for the good of the community.
Asset Development: Grow the Foundation’s endowment by encouraging gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and affinity groups.
Board Partnership: Support the board, and lead the implementation of the organization’s plans and priorities.
Grant Making: Ensure effective communications and processes to understand the needs of the community and engage the community in addressing those needs.
Staff Relations: The Chief Executive Officer will attract, develop, motivate, and manage an effective team, capable of achieving the Foundation’s strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with fundraising, financial management, grant administration, and experience working in collaboration with community partners. Successful experience in fund development or a relationship-building role is important. Experience working in smaller and rural communities is helpful.
