Position Overview

The Director of Student Involvement is responsible for developing an engaging and robust calendar of activities for the campus community. They will work closely with students and staff to initiate, plan, develop and facilitate activities to enhance the Manchester University student experience.

Essential Job Functions

Innovate and implement new initiatives that provide vibrant experiences and enhance student engagement, belonging, leadership development, and cultural competency.

Establish strategic goals and assessment to evaluate student involvement on campus and create a collaborative environment focused on promoting student engagement and success.

Coordinate programming for undergraduate Week of Welcome, Finals Week, and Senior Week.

Serve as advisor to the Student Senate and Manchester Activities Council, meeting weekly with presidents.

Provide student and club advisor leadership training programs and monitor club activity throughout the year.

Assist in the execution of traditional events including, but not limited to: Kick-Off Weekend, Homecoming Week, Family Weekend, and May Day Weekend.

Support all student organizations for planning, marketing, and implementation of activities, events and programs.

Serve as lead administrator for Spartan Life system including promotion, utilization, and implementation.

Monitor area budgets:

Administrate and oversee the student activity fees and department operating budget.

Train campus organization treasurers.

Monitor club cash advances.

Reconcile credit card statements and all paperwork to ensure timely processing.

Oversee Team Manny training and reservations.

Work with Athletics and Esports on promotional events to encourage attendance at competitions and spirit.

Organize Spirit Rock coverage.

Manage student supply room.

Supervise student employees in Student Involvement, Team Manny, and Campus Concierge.

Recruit, train and advise Week of Welcome orientation leaders.

Meet regularly with dining, tech, and facilities to ensure smooth events.

Serve as a Success Advisor and provide holistic support to new, transfer, and continuing students from a variety of backgrounds to identify and address challenges/needs.

Attend Student Life and Engagement Collective meetings and trainings.

Assume other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties May Include

Teach a First-Year course if assigned.

Participate on University committees or working groups as requested.

Qualifications

A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.

Bachelor's degree required Masters preferred.

Strong organizational skills.

Self-motivated and independent worker.

Strong student-focused outlook.

High degree of computer proficiency required.

Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position with hours that frequently include evenings and weekends.
