Position Overview: The Senior Admissions Counselor has primary responsibility for one-to-one recruitment of prospective students in an assigned territory. The Senior Admissions Counselor will work toward specific goals set by the Director of Admissions by creating relationships with students/families and lead them through the entire enrollment process. As a seasoned team member, the Senior Admissions Counselor will provide leadership within the recruiting team to help contribute to goals and overall team morale. This individual will be expected to adhere and contribute to the University and Admissions mission and vision statements and delivery of professional, personal service.

 

Essential job functions:

 

Off-Campus & Travel:

 

• Participate in off-campus recruiting events such as University fairs, high school visits, and other campus and off-site visits as needed.

• Introduce students and families to Manchester through individual interactions and/or group presentations and do appropriate follow-up with new interested students.

• Plan recruiting events during travel that are particular to territory needs.

• Plan recruitment travel seasons (spring and fall).

• Develop and foster strong relationships with high school guidance counselors and Manchester alumni in areas that may strengthen the institution.

• Represent Manchester University in a professional manner at all times.

 

On-campus/Daily Responsibilities:

 

• Correspond with applicants through email, telephone, texting and handwritten notes.

• Work with incoming students throughout the entire recruitment/enrollment process.

• Meet with prospective students and their families.

• Give campus tours as needed.

• Lead presentations on various topics as needed.

• Participate in on-campus recruiting events such as Spartan Days, Preview Days, Academic Days, LEAD Celebration, scholarship events, etc.

• Interact with faculty, advisors, coaches and other Manchester administrators to coordinate successful campus visits.

• Evaluate and process applications based on transcripts, rank, recommendations and other documentation provided resulting in admission or recommendation for admission.

 

Communication Outreach:

 

• Make outgoing communication to inquiries and applicants to discuss next steps in the process, financial aid packages, and determine interest level in Manchester University,

• Provide information on Manchester curriculum, financial aid, billing, the application process, scholarships, campus housing, health services, campus life, network access/ITS, etc.

• Promote and schedule campus visits and events for prospective students as needed.

• Record comments, interest level and other necessary record updates in the department's CRM system.

 

Financial Aid and Enrollment:

 

• Assist students and families with the financial aid process.

• Provide updates and information on error codes, verification and other aid processing needs.

• Discuss financial aid packages, payment options and timelines with students/families.

• Remind students to complete necessary processes to secure financial aid, such as completing the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.

• Work with families on balance payment arrangements.

• Provide guidance to students/families on enrollment processes and paperwork, including placement exams, housing forms, health/wellness forms, athletic eligibility paperwork, parking permits, etc.

• Follow-up with students eligible for special program enrollment such as Honors, Early Assurance, Tuition Bridge, scholarship opportunities, etc.

 

General Activities:

 

• Participate in weekly admissions meetings.

• Support and model a positive team “can-do” attitude in the admissions office and throughout the University community.

• Establish and maintain relationships throughout the University community.

• Represent the institution at approved professional organizations.

• Organize, manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities at once.

• Participate in enrollment activities as needed (orientation, Move-in Day/Welcome Week, etc.).

• Provide support to students as needed as they adjust and transition to the college experience

• Assist in training and mentor new admissions counselors/staff as requested.

• Participate in at least one department committee.

• Assist in leading one office responsibility.

• Meet competency expectations.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Requirements

 

• Bachelor's degree.

• Must possess a valid driver's license, travel extensively, read maps and have reliable transportation.

• Must have the capacity to be flexible, assertive, intuitive, patient, personable, and empathetic.

• Advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite.

• Multilingual and/or bilingual is preferred (Spanish).

• Understanding and general knowledge/use of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other identified social media platforms.

 

Qualifications

 

• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with students, parents, faculty, staff and the public.

• Experience with public speaking and presentations.

• Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships both internally and externally.

• Ability to influence, communicate, respond and interact with a wide array of individuals.

• Strong time management, detail orientation and organizational skills.

• Solid sense of confidentiality and discretion.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Work schedule:

 

This is a full time, 12-month, non-exempt, staff position. The hours per week will vary depending on the recruiting cycle; however, they are generally forty (40) hours. Evening and weekend hours are required at specific times in the recruiting cycle.
